Introduction : Romeo and Juliet is one of William Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies. The opening, or prologue, of the play is well known in its own right. In a play, a prologue is a speech that is delivered to the audience before the main action begins on the stage. ‘Prologue’ comes from the Greek word prólogos. Pro means ‘before,’ and logos means’word’. The prologue is the word before the action.
